Kathy MacFarlane, MA, CFRE
Prior to starting her consulting business in 2019, Kathy had a 25-year career in leadership and senior fundraising roles in various areas including children’s services, health care, college and university settings. Kathy’s experience includes legacy and planned giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, annual giving, grant writing, and special events.
She has consulted for non-profits on fundraising readiness, writing a case for support, crafting a fund development plan, identifying, cultivating and stewarding donors, building capacity in fundraising staff, creating a legacy program plus coaching and training individuals and teams on a range of leadership themes.
Her client sectors have included: environmental protection, adults with developmental disabilities, youth career exploration, healing from sexual violence, non-profit leadership and volunteerism, and post-secondary.
She has led and participated in various task forces conducting organizational inquiries into: cultivating a culture of philanthropy, fostering inclusive excellence, creating a 50-100 year campus master plan, and evaluating and improving internal governance. She has also volunteered on many non-profit boards and committees.
Kathy has a Master of Arts degree in Leadership from Royal Roads University, is a CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) and a certified Spiritual Intelligence (SQ) coach. She is also a certified MBTI practitioner and a Resilience at Work coach. Through her leadership consulting business, Kathy demonstrates her passion for understanding and promoting healthy leadership principles so people can thrive at work, home and in the world. She believes in maximizing creativity and innovation by inviting people to bring their soul to the workplace.
